Save on Car Repairs – Car maintenance Hacks You Might Want To Know

Maybe you had enough of hearing about regular car maintenance. Continue to do the daily car tasks and you will definitely save heaps on repair costs. But there other things that you can do that will keep the mechanics at bay. There are other things that you can also do aside from the regular bits of advice that you were told.

  • If you have experienced torn rubber gaskets on the inside of the car door, then you need this. What tool can you use? Not a tool, but an ingredient: cooking spray. Spray all parts rubber inside the car door. Let the oil seep in for a minute, then wipe it off with a towel or tissue. This prevents water from staying on the rubber and freezing during winter. With the oil, moisture is bumped off the rubber and the seals become tighter. You save on costs of replacing torn and cracked rubber gaskets.
  • Problem with a dent? There is a solution that you can do so you won’t have to bring the car to a service shop for repairs. However, this method will only work for small to medium dents. Tool: toilet plunger. Clean out the plunger first (of course!). Put it directly on the dent and apply pressure. The pressure should suck the dent out.
  • Chipped paint? For chipped paint, you have the solution right inside your wife’s (or yours!) dressing table. Tool: nail polish. The secret to this is to use ONLY the polish of the same color.
  • Hardened mud on your engine? This can easily be solved by 2 things: water and dishwashing liquid. Cover all things electrical first. Using a power washer and the dishwashing liquid, spray out the caked mud. This will be over in a few minutes. Let everything dry out then put back all things. Don’t forget to remove the cover over the electrical wirings.
  • Frozen door handles? You can prevent ending up with a broken door handle by another home solution. Tool: alcohol or hand sanitizer. To unfreeze your car’s door handle, pour some alcohol or hand sanitizer on it. The alcohol will remove the ice from the door. This will also save you a trip to the car repair shop.
  • Dull headlights? This happens overtime when dirt gets piled on another pile of dirt. Water that dried on the headlights can also create that dull film. That is something that can be solved from your bathroom. Tool: toothpaste. Put a generous amount of toothpaste on the headlights. Let it stay on the headlights for a minute for it to do its work. Rub the toothpaste in with a soft cloth. Then rinse with water. Dry with a soft cloth. Result: shiny headlights and savings.

Savings Everyday

Going to your trusted car repair shop can ensure that you get top quality service at a reasonable price. On the other hand, you would be able to save on costs by doing regular car maintenance. This way, you avoid the costs of car repair. But there are also little things that you can do that will help you prevent calling your local mechanic. And the tools can be found inside your home.
